🚀 Getting Started with Romanian Lessons Online

Booking a lesson is quick and simple. Visit our online calendar, choose a time that works for you, fill in your details, and confirm. You will receive a confirmation email right away with all the information you need, including the Zoom link for your session.

If this is your first time, start with the free 30-minute Needs Assessment. During this session, I evaluate your current level, discuss your goals, and create a personalized learning plan before we begin regular lessons.
Not at all! My students range from absolute beginners who have never heard a word of Romanian to advanced learners refining their fluency. Complete beginners start with the basics: the Romanian alphabet, pronunciation, greetings, and simple everyday phrases.

I always adapt the pace and materials to your level, so you will never feel lost or overwhelmed. Over 240 students from 42 countries have started from scratch with me and made real progress within their first few months.
You need three things: a stable internet connection, a computer or tablet with a webcam, and a quiet space where you can focus. A headset with a microphone is recommended for better audio quality, though your device’s built-in mic works fine too.

I provide all learning materials digitally — custom PDFs, exercises, and audio files — so there is nothing to buy in advance. A pen and notebook can be useful for taking notes, but that is entirely optional. I send the Zoom or Skype link before each session.
The timeline depends on your starting level, learning goals, and how consistently you practice. According to the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), Romanian is a Category I language for English speakers, requiring approximately 600-750 hours to reach professional proficiency. Based on my experience with 240+ students, here is a rough guide: beginners (A1-A2) typically need 3 to 6 months of regular study, intermediate level (B1-B2) takes 12 to 18 months, and advanced fluency (C1) requires 2+ years. Consistency is key — short daily practice outperforms occasional long sessions. During your free Needs Assessment, I can give you a personalized estimate.

📚 Romanian Lessons & Teaching Methods

My approach is based on the communicative language teaching method, which focuses on real-life conversations rather than memorizing grammar rules in isolation. Each lesson combines speaking practice, listening exercises, vocabulary building, and grammar explanations tailored to your level.

I also incorporate real-world materials like news articles, podcasts, and cultural content to keep lessons engaging and practical. As a certified TEFL and SEND teacher, I adapt my approach for students with different learning styles or special educational needs such as ADHD, autism, or dyslexia.
Yes! Small group lessons with 3 to 6 students per session are available. These 60-minute classes are designed for intermediate learners (B1 level and above) who want to practice conversation, improve listening skills, and learn through interaction.

At $25 per session (compared to $30 for private 1:1 lessons), group classes are also more affordable. Each session runs on a regular weekly schedule and includes homework, grammar explanations, and free PDFs. Check the courses page for the current schedule and availability.
Lessons use a mix of custom-designed materials and curated resources tailored to your level and goals. This includes original PDFs, audio exercises, conversation prompts, and grammar worksheets developed over 6 years of teaching.

My Essential Romanian Grammar Workbook covers 56 exercises across A2, B1, and B2 levels. Depending on your interests, I may also use authentic Romanian content like news articles, songs, podcasts, or video clips. After your Needs Assessment, I select the most suitable materials for your learning path — all included in the lesson price.
Absolutely! Every student has different strengths and areas for improvement. If you want to focus on pronunciation, we will dedicate time to the specific Romanian sounds that English speakers find challenging, such as ă, â/î, and the rolled r. If grammar is your priority, we will work through cases, verb conjugations, and sentence structures with plenty of practice exercises. You can also focus on business Romanian, travel vocabulary, conversational fluency, or writing skills. Just let me know your goals during the Needs Assessment and I will build a personalized curriculum around them.

📅 Scheduling & Payments for Online Romanian Courses

All scheduling is done through our online booking system. Simply check real-time availability, pick a slot that suits your timezone, and confirm in just a few clicks. A confirmation email with the Zoom link and session materials will follow immediately.

Many students prefer a recurring weekly slot for consistency, which helps with faster progress. However, individual bookings are also available if your schedule changes from week to week. With students across multiple time zones, flexible hours accommodate different regions.
Life happens, and the cancellation policy is designed to be flexible. You can reschedule or cancel any lesson with at least 24 hours’ notice at no charge — simply reach out by email or WhatsApp to find a new time.

Unfortunately, I charge cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice as a missed session. This ensures that both your time and mine are respected. For emergencies or unexpected situations, please get in touch and we can discuss options on a case-by-case basis.
I accept payments through Stripe (all major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express) and PayPal. The website processes everything securely when you book your lessons.

You can pay per lesson or purchase a package in advance. All prices appear in USD for simplicity, and the payment processor converts to your local currency automatically. You will receive a receipt by email after each payment. For pricing details, check the courses page or ask during your free Needs Assessment.
Yes! Every new student gets a completely free 30-minute Needs Assessment Session. This is not a sales pitch — it is a genuine evaluation where we get to know each other, assess your current Romanian level, and discuss your learning goals and timeline.

I then create a personalized study plan based on our conversation. You also get to experience my teaching style and see if we are a good fit before committing to paid lessons. No obligation to continue after the assessment. Book your free session here and start your Romanian journey today.

💻 Technical Requirements for Online Lessons

I primarily use Zoom, which offers high-quality video and audio, screen sharing for materials, a whiteboard for writing practice, and recording options to review the lesson later. Skype works as an alternative if you prefer.

Both platforms are free to download and work on computers, tablets, and smartphones. I send the meeting link before each lesson — just click and join, no complicated setup required.
Technical issues happen to everyone, and they are handled with flexibility. When your internet drops or audio cuts out, there is time to reconnect. Should the problem persist, we can switch to a phone call or reschedule the remaining time for another day at no extra cost.

If I experience technical issues on my end and the lesson cannot continue, you will not pay for that session. To minimize problems, use a wired internet connection when possible, close unnecessary browser tabs and apps, and test your microphone and camera before the lesson starts.
