You need three things: a stable internet connection, a computer or tablet with a webcam, and a quiet space where you can focus. A headset with a microphone is recommended for better audio quality, though your device’s built-in mic works fine too.

I provide all learning materials digitally, custom PDFs, exercises, and audio files, so there is nothing to buy in advance. A pen and notebook can be useful for taking notes, but that is entirely optional. I send the Zoom or Skype link before each session. Please make sure to test your setup before the first lesson to avoid technical delays.

The timeline depends on your starting level, learning goals, and how consistently you practice. According to the Foreign Service Institute (FSI), Romanian is a Category I language for English speakers, requiring approximately 600-750 hours to reach professional proficiency. Yes! Small group lessons with 3 to 6 students per session are available. These 60-minute classes are designed for intermediate learners (B1 level and above) who want to practice conversation, improve listening skills, and learn through interaction.

At $25 per session (compared to $30 for private 1:1 lessons), group classes are also more affordable. Each session runs on a regular weekly schedule and includes homework, grammar explanations, and free PDFs. Check the courses page for the current schedule and availability. Group lesson spots are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis and the same cancellation policy applies.

Lessons use a mix of custom-designed materials and curated resources tailored to your level and goals. This includes original PDFs, audio exercises, conversation prompts, and grammar worksheets developed over 6 years of teaching.

My Essential Romanian Grammar Workbook covers 56 exercises across A2, B1, and B2 levels. Depending on your interests, I may also use authentic Romanian content like news articles, songs, podcasts, or video clips. After your Needs Assessment, I select the most suitable materials for your learning path, all included in the lesson price. All materials are for your personal use only and may not be shared, redistributed, or resold.

Absolutely! Every student has different strengths and areas for improvement. If you want to focus on pronunciation, we will dedicate time to the specific Romanian sounds that English speakers find challenging, such as ă, â/î, and the rolled r. If grammar is your priority, we will work through cases, verb conjugations, and sentence structures with plenty of practice exercises. You can also focus on business Romanian, travel vocabulary, conversational fluency, or writing skills. Just let me know your goals during the Needs Assessment and I will build a personalized curriculum around them.

All scheduling is done through our online booking system. Simply check real-time availability, pick a slot that suits your timezone, and confirm in just a few clicks. A confirmation email with the Zoom link and session materials will follow immediately.

Many students prefer a recurring weekly slot for consistency, which helps with faster progress. However, individual bookings are also available if your schedule changes from week to week. With students across multiple time zones, flexible hours accommodate different regions.

I understand that life happens, and I try to be flexible. Here are the rules that apply to all bookings:

Rescheduling: You may reschedule a lesson with at least 24 hours’ notice, up to a maximum of 2 reschedules per lesson. After that, the session is considered used.

Late cancellations: Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged as a full session. No exceptions.

No-shows: If you do not attend your lesson without prior notice, the session is charged in full and cannot be rescheduled or refunded.

Late arrivals: If you arrive late, the lesson will still end at the originally scheduled time. The missed time cannot be made up or refunded.

These rules ensure fairness for all students and allow me to manage my schedule effectively. I apply the same standards to myself: if I need to cancel, you will always be offered a full reschedule at no cost.

I accept payments through Stripe (all major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express) and PayPal. The website processes everything securely when you book your lessons. All lessons are paid in advance at the time of booking.

You can pay per lesson or purchase a package in advance. All prices appear in USD for simplicity, and the payment processor converts to your local currency automatically. You will receive a receipt by email after each payment. For pricing details, check the courses page or ask during your free Needs Assessment.

By booking and paying for a lesson, you agree that completed sessions are non-refundable. Payment disputes (chargebacks) for lessons that were delivered as scheduled will be contested with full documentation, including session logs and communication records.

Lesson packages let you purchase multiple sessions upfront at a better rate. Here is how they work:

Validity: All packages are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase. Unused sessions after this period expire automatically and cannot be refunded or extended.

Refunds: Packages are non-refundable once purchased. If exceptional circumstances arise (documented medical reasons, for example), please contact me and I will do my best to find a fair solution on a case-by-case basis.

Transferability: Packages are personal and cannot be transferred to another student.

The same cancellation and rescheduling rules apply to each session within a package.

Yes! Every new student gets one free 30-minute Needs Assessment Session. This is an evaluation where we get to know each other, assess your current Romanian level, and discuss your learning goals and timeline. I then create a personalized study plan based on our conversation.

This assessment is designed to help you understand your starting point and see if we are a good fit, it is not a teaching lesson. One free assessment is available per person. I primarily use Zoom, which offers high-quality video and audio, screen sharing for materials, and a whiteboard for writing practice. Google Meets works as an alternative if you prefer.

Both platforms are free to download and work on computers, tablets, and smartphones. I send the meeting link before each lesson, just click and join, no complicated setup required. Lessons may only be recorded with mutual consent, and any recordings are strictly for your personal review. Sharing or distributing lesson recordings is not permitted.

Technical issues happen to everyone, and they are handled fairly for both sides.

On my side: If I experience technical issues that prevent the lesson from continuing, the remaining time will be rescheduled at no extra cost, or you will not be charged for that session.

On your side: Students are responsible for ensuring a stable internet connection, a working microphone, and a working camera before the lesson. If your connection drops briefly, we will wait a few minutes for you to reconnect. However, if repeated technical issues on your end prevent the lesson from taking place, the session is still considered used. To minimize problems, use a wired internet connection when possible, close unnecessary browser tabs and apps, and test your setup before the lesson starts.
